Nope. You can call them if you like but as long as you haven't already checked-in then you just don't turn up.

It depends, Ryanair plan on a number of people not turning up fro a flight. Places are only confirmed when the ticket is scanned at security.

If you want to a refund for the flight you are canceling then there is no chance of getting the money back.Mr O'Leary has set the processing fee for a refund as the value of the ticket being refunded(or near enough). Though some money could probably be getting back.

So if no refund is being sought just leave it.

With Ryanair, the ticket price and random fees are non-refundable. But you can get the taxes refunded - minus a hefty fee that in most cases eats up your entire refund.

Either way, a refund will only be issued if you do not travel. There would be two ways to prove that you did not take the flight: Either by canceling your ticket beforehand or by not showing up. I do not remember exactly how Ryanair handle this. They might allow you to cancel and apply for a tax refund. Or they may do it the same way e.g. easyJet handle this case: You cannot cancel a flight. But if you do not show up at the airport, you can then later say "see, I didn't show up, now pay back my taxes". This is how I have seen it work with several budget airlines - I would not be surprised if Ryanair's handling was the same. I am not sure though.

Hi I got a similar story here. I have put wrong passenger name.

5 minutes after booking i went to change name online:
    - change name fee = 100E

Wanted to call them and avoid paying ridiculous fee:
Chad to wait till next day morning (Sunday) when they open their 0.95E/minute premium phone line (usual line operates only Mon-Fri).
    - first call cost 10E - No supervisor available, advised to call in 2 hours
    - second call cost 5E - No supervisor, advised to call in the evening
    - no callback available
    - in case of cancelling the ticket administration charge will be greater than refund and you will get nothing

    Called my bank (for free):
    - advised I can appeal the transaction after 7 days (or after it will go through-used VISA Electron card) and possibly have my money back on the condition that service was not provided

    - Decided not to call Ryan-Air anymore and just deal with my bank. Will book another ticket (38E) and do a charge-back if possible....

Hi I got a similar story here. I have put wrong passenger name.

And this is Ryanair's fault, how?

As for the card issuer - well, it's a hard chargeback to pursue. Ryanair are willing to provide a service to "Mary Smith" (or whatever name you put) and are willing to change it (for a fee). Non-provision of service would be a tough one to prove in that case. In fact, I'd even say there would be no case for a chargeback.

I would very much warn against a chargeback. Even if it goes through, you are clearly in the wrong and you know it. I do not know the laws and I do not know whether Ryanair would feel like coming after you for €38. But if they do, you will find yourself in a difficult position. As the poster before me said, Ryanair did everything right. It was your mistake to type in the wrong name.

Well I'm going to do this anyway, just trying to fight back against unfair fees. I don't care about consequences, I very much prefer to learn the hard way rather than let them take my money without a fight...

Also I'm very curious as to what will happen. I heard that it may actually work but they will mark your card as "hot" on the system and you will not be able to book flights anymore (my card expires at the end of year anyway). I also mentioned about that to Ryanair staff on 2 occasions and they didn't dis-advised it.

Make sure to report back how it went then. There will be many people here wondering whether this strategy can work (myself included :).
