The news that Killarney has been chosen to host the Irish Open golf tournament next year, has been hailed as a major boost for tourism in Kerry. Killarney’s Killeen course was chosen above rival applicants from Mount Juliet, Fota Island and Baltray, to host the event, which will be held over the August Bank Holiday Weekend. Killarney last hosted the Open in 1992, when it was won by British golfer Nick Faldo. Mayor of Killarney, Michael Gleeson, said the news couldn’t come at a better time for the town’s business people.

Yeah I heard this alright. Massive, massive much-needed boost for Killarney. I am honestly just so proud of everyone involved for winning this prestegious honour for our town.

Looking forward to the event already.

Looking forward to it too! The place will be mobbed but I'll get over it as long as the local economy gets a boost!
