hi all, car was parked in the driveway last night. Woke up this morning to the gardai at the door, wing mirror had been kicked off the car, it was one of several cars vandalised in the housing estate last night by all accounts. My question is if i claim on my insurance(fully comp+fire+theft) will i lose my no claims bonus? id say there's between 100-200 worth of damage... and info would be [FONT=&quot]Appreciated. Tried ringing insurance company but claims aren't open on the weekends.

If there's only 100-200 worth of damage, do you not have an excess on your policy that you would have to pay the first X amount, and then they start paying the rest? Might want to check what your excess is before you think about making a claim.

Are you sure its only 100/200?!
    Type of car & year?
You'll be shocked how much a broken mirror will cost you to fix!
Depends on your insurance policy, i'd say fix it yourself, but you need to look into your policy/ring your insurance company and ask nearly.

Yea watch the excess on your policy. Some have €400 standard, people never look at the details of their policy when they take it out, normally they only compare price. There are so many little differences that really only come in to play when you need insurance like
    • Excess amount
    • Step-Back bonus cover (No claims bonus protection)
    • Legal assistance
    • Breakdown cover (+ level of breakdown cover)
    • Windscreen cover (+ other window cover)
    • Open driving cover
    • Driving of other cars cover
    • Facilities for temporary additional cover
    • Temporary switch to another car
    • Car contents cover
    • ICE upgrades cover

There are probably more I have forgotten about. Call your insurance company & they should help you decide if cash or insurance is the best way to pay for this.

Oh, €100-€200 might be wishful thinking, I know on most BMW for example a wing mirror is approx €400, plus painting, plus fitting.

Example here: 2002 e39 BMW 5 Series mirror with glass: STG£337.01:eek:

    (Part number gotten from here)

I fully agree with the post above. It all depends on the make of the car.In my
