Question on changing taxation class?

    Morning folks.
I have a vw golf estate, nct booked for dec 2009, i want to remove the rear seats and convert it into a car/van for commerical use.

Some people are telling me it needs to have a current nct in order to change the taxation class, others say it does not need to have a current nct.

Anyone here know the right answer?

Not sure about the NCT bit but you need to convert it, i.e. put a flat platform into the back, weld up seatbelt anchor points, no need to black out the windows as the VRT's already been paid. Get it weighed, DOE tested and you need to change the classification by getting a yellow form (don't remember the ref number of it) and then tax it as a commercial. That's about it really.

Yes i will be removing all the rear interior, welding plates on floor where seat belts are anchored, boarding it out and so on.

It just seems impossible to find out about the test issue.

Rang shannon tax office who told me call into my local tax office.
Went into my local tax office and was told to ring shannon.

If i had hair i woild be pulling it out now.
