What colour tie?

Hi guys I have my graduation next Thursday and I just want advice on my suit. My suit is a pinstriped darkish grey, with the thin stripes being a lighter grey. I got it with a white shirt and baby blue tie, but the tie got into a bit of an 'accident' at a wedding, to say the least:eek:. The last wedding I was at I wore a grey and white striped tie but I couldn't help feeling the suit was abit dull with all the grey.

Any advice on what colour tie I should wear, keep the grey and white tie, go back to baby blue, or get a different colour?

as it's a plain white shirt, I'd avoid a single colour tie - it's just too bland and 'businessy'.
A plain white shirt allows you to pick a good high contrasting tie with a couple of colours.
something like this (from M&S) might work well if a grey suit maybe?

A pale pink tie goes really well with a dark suit.

As he is wearing a pinstriped suit I would advise against a tie with such narrow stripes; the two patterns would clash quite badly.

I agree with dingbat, think the stripescould be an issue and should be avoided really. I would go plain. There is enough going on with the suit. I'd recommend a lilac or purple tie- always works with grey.

Thanks for all the advice people, the general consensus is that it should be a plain tie I think, anyway feel free to suggest anything else.
