bib tights: Santini vs. Assos

Has anyone got any experience of Santini shorts or tights?

I sprung for a pair of Assos shorts over the summer and they've been the best 150 euro I've spent on cycling, I'm always comfortable and haven't had a saddle sore or ache since.

Coming into winter I need a great pair of bibtights, should I keep the faith with Assos or are these Santini tights up to scratch for half the price?

I only wear Santini. Club gear is made by them and none of the lads or ladies from Racingheads to Leisureheads have a bad word to say about them.

Those Santini big tights are good. I have them (or last year's model).
This morning I got in the post the Santini Sole Breezewall winter jacket advertised on that site.
I must go for a cycle one of these days. :o

Sizes are true enough. I'm a medium and Santini medium fit well. Prendas ask for your height, weight, chest, waist when ordering and advise you if the item is a tight fight.

Having never paid more than €50 for a pair of shorts I can't advise on the Assos, but the Sportful bib leggings I bought last year, were so comfy that I bought a second pair before the winter finished.

looking at some sportful tights for the winter over a wiggle...whats the sizing like on them...tables lists as

    Size Guide For Men's Clothing
    Size HeightChest Waist
    XXS 165 84 72
    XS 168 88 76
    S 171 92 80
    M 174 96 84
    L 177 100 88
    XL 181 106 94
    XXL 184 112 101
    XXXL 186 116 106

based on table I'd be a M in the waist and chest 33 and 38 but would be an XL in Height...

are they Euro sized (I'm an XL in Santini )

Or you could get bibtights without any padding and use yer Assos shorts underneath, this way you're only washing the shorts after each cycle and not the bibtights.

Assos do non padded bitights but they're pricey, this might be an option :

that's a tough call. I just checked mine and they are M. But I bought them in France and the sizes are usually one smaller here and in Italy . I'm 170cm + 64kgs. I don't know if that really helps you

EDIT: Just noticed the dhb tights for €46. They get tons of good reviews. Would be hard to look past them, esp in value for money stakes.

As a recent (last year) convert to assos shorts and future long term customer :) I would recommend sticking with them, I used santini 3/4 length and winter bibs before this, but they will soon be getting the upgrade to assos ones ;)

Hi i bought the Asoss bib shorts during the summer and they are excellent in xxl but i bought the winter bib tights about a month ago also in xxl but i feel they are abit too tight especially near the groin area after 2-3 hours on the bike i can feel it on my right side groin area and im abit worried if it is size or other factors so im thinking of investing in the Santini that you are looking at also

I have the Santini Roubaix tights. Only used em once... in cold snowy weather in Germany last week. They held up well.

There are different types of Assos chamois, I remember reading reviews of the F1 Mille and it gave some people a pain in the balls, more padding up front apparently. This could be the issue.

I like my F1 Uno bib shorts, but the comfort difference hasn't been so amazing that I wouldn't try another brand for my next pair.

Cheers Lukester i have the F1 bib shorts aswell with padding around that area which is fine, but the bib tights padding does not cover that area much at all maybe that could be the problem.
