Anyone else a fan? Definitely one of the few programmes that I would go out of my way to see. Fantastic photography, beutifully presented, with an amazing variety of creatures. David Attenborough hits the bulls-eye again! (But not literally, he's too much of a gentleman for that!)

Yeah definitely. I thought the first episode was outstanding. Some of the footage captured was stunning. I think they said it took 3 years to film and you can see tons of effort went into making it. The first episode is actually repeated tomorrow evening at 7:30pm on BBC2 for anyone who missed it.

As for next week I think it's going to be focused on reptiles. Found this preview clip:

Saw it, when you think how this kind of thing looked when Life on Earth was made in 1979 (often a bit murky!) the technical advances allow you see the world on a whole new level. The camera crews put themselves through it was well, 3 months on Antarctica I think.

Had it on Sky+ and watched it tonight.

It had me completely transfixed after two minute watching. Unbelievable photography and hugely entertaining and educational.

    An absolute joy.

Credit where it's due all David does is provide that distinctive and comforting voice that we all love, the real kudos goto the production teams who dedicate years of their lives, shacking up in the most hostile of locations to bring us these awe inspiring images.

Not to detract from Sir. David as he has earned his stripes a million times over, I just wanted to point out that for this series there was a minimal role played by David!

Anyone watch it in HD. It was amazing. I didn't think you could get a better HD show than Planet Earth but hen I watched this. The picture and sound was amazing. I love the way that you see how they made the show at the last 10 minutes of the programme. This was missing from Planet Earth and I'm glad they included it in Life.

The making-of is at the end of each Planet Earth episode I thought? :S

I'll probably wait til it's out on Blu-Ray.

I was looking forward to that programme this evening on BBC2, but they postponed it without a bye or leave, due to rain delayed 'practice' for a bloody gran prix. Tried to watch it on the BBC iplayer but its only within UK

One thing that puzzled me was the fact that it is being shown at the relatively late time of 10:25, which is unusual for a major new series. You would expect it to be shown in the prime-time slot. However, I noticed that it is being shown at 9:00pm on Monday nights on the BBC HD channel (which I don't have). I also discovered, more or less by accident, that it has a 9:oopm start on Freesat BBC 1 London (which I DO have).
Looking forward to tomorrow night's programme...

Or the magic of "Other Channels" in Sky.

To be fair to BBC NI, only 95% of their output is crap, but I can't give you an example of the other 5%!

Another fascinating programme last night...stars of the show for me were those brave camera-men who got up close and personal with the Kimono dragons. I was surprised at just how close they were as they recorded in such graphic detail how the dragons stalked that unfortunate buffalo. It was another reminder of how cruel nature can be.
As one of the crew remarked, they didn't actually interfere with what was going on but it was difficult to witness the plight of the buffalo as it eventually succumbed to its persistant predators.
At one point David Attenborough was saying, "There is only one threat to the power of the Kimono dragon.." and before he finished the sentence you could almost hear the chorus of the millions of viewers finishing the sentence for him, ..."and that's another Kimono dragon!"

Yeah it was another good show I thought. I was fascinated by the Panther Chameleon. It's like the Solid Snake of the animal world. It can camouflage itself, it can move stealthily with its claws and that tongue attack was brilliant.
