    It's not a steaming heap of ****. It's a deadly festival.

Do you not like the bands? Or not like the format/organisation of the festival?

If it's the former then I wonder why you went in the first place.
If it's the latter, I would like to know why.

I didn't go this year because I'm not much of a fan of any of the bands I know who are playing. But other years that I've known and liked about 5 or more bands I've gone and very much enjoyed. Good value for money if you see enough bands. Good way to find out about new bands that wouldn't normally play in the scene you are involved with. I also generally like the way you can hop between venues all night and watch bands doing nice short sets. Keeps it interesting.

    QUOTE]

    I got free tickets.

I saw some bands that I liked, these were bands that I already knew about. None of the bands that I went to see on a whim were any good, the standard was pretty bad, as a whole. No surprises

I think it would work better in one venue, like when it was held in the red box, it was too thinly spread, what happens is some bands are largely ignored. If the organisers really wanted to promote these acts, they should have made sure there was going to be an audience for them. The bands don't get paid?, so they're doing it for exposure, a lot of the acts I saw didn't get that.

Have to say I agree with you about the venues being too far apart. Not sure what they are this year, but other years have been a bit annoying alright. Wasn't at the Redbox one either. That sounds alright. And one other year they were all in Temple Bar, which wasn't too bad. Never noticed the gigs being empty really. Except that time they used the Olympia for god knows what reason. Maybe it's got worse in the past year or two.
