Yes, there really is a "Dublin" bike out there and forms part of treks range, ironically I bet these can't be found anywhere in Dublin!

It actually looks as if it would be a rather good urban/utility bicycle for the non speeddemon types out there by the looks of things - hybrid positioning, brooks saddle, 7 speed shimano nexus hub gears driven by one of those new carbon belts, full mudguards etc.

im impressed with that. Belt drive very snazzy.:)

Whats even more impressive is how the have hidden the joint in the frame for the belt.

    I quite like that.

Not sure about the belt drive though. What's wrong with a chain?

I see Trek are now doing a carbon-fibre carbon-belted drop bar singlespeed.

no noise, no lube, no need to change every few months, no wear on drivetrain.

    Its the future:D

If harley's are anything to go by, belts are not problem free.

Yeah, but a hub geared bike has essentially a singlespeed drivetrain. Singlespeeds with chains don't really make noise, or need much lube, or wear out fast.

When they can get that belt through a derailleur I'll be impressed. :)

I've seen loads around, great to see, but the standard of cycling has been woeful. In a very short space of time, I saw one cycling on the footpath, one cycling the wrong way up Lower Liffey street and another going through some red lights.

Thank God they have built in lights anyway.

With mudguards, a pump and what looks like a fog light, it looks as if it has definitely been designed for Dublin's roads:)

Woops, sorry I thought this was a thread about the Velibs. There's me hopping in again on the reply button.

Thanks for pointing it out Gavin.
