I am just wondering does anyone think they will ever see a Garda on the beat in uniform in Belfast or a PSNI officer on the beat in Dublin?

I'm confused OP. Do you mean one unified Irish police force or something?

Not on the beat but in pursuit most definitly. It's the Schengen agreement you see.

I think what you're hinting at is very much a matter of wait and see what the future brings. Fact is that the Gardai and the PSNI have a very good working relationship without having powers on eachother's patch.

Stevie, UK and Ireland have not signed up to Schengen.

Interestingly, I recently saw PSNI officers on patrol in London at the Notting Hill Carnival. While it is all part of the UK, I did not think that the Met would call upon police from Northern Ireland when policing a major event.

    Why OP:confused:
Its a different jurisdiction, different country.

Not to mention, the PSNI have been accused of orchestrating the murder of Kevin McDaid and then subsequently failing to protect him. This is not the first instance of collusion I've heard from the PSNI.

They are not an accountable police force and are not welcome in the south. They have much work to do before gaining the trust of the nationalist community, and indeed - the trust of anyone.
