Hopefully some of you Guys can give me a dig out.. I've no hardware or experience with the In's & Out's & Thru's of MIDI.

I'm thinking about getting a bit of hardware with a Step Sequencer - Like a cheap old Groovebox.. A Roland or Korg probably.. I mainly want it to be able to send midi to Logic.. and probably will only ever have it triggering samples or softsynths.

Just wondering.. Probably a dumb question -

Will the swing/shuffle amount from the Groovebox be recorded into the DAW, along with the pitch & velocity etc?

Apologies.. I know **** all about it :D

Yes , once the recorded track isn't Auto Quantised or whatever the correct term is ...

How's Logic for SyEx? - I've been using Ableton - and I can't find a way to get at the SyEx - or get it to record and unfiltered stream over MIDI.

I have some Roland groove boxes - And some of the basic functions and interesting ones can only be got at through SyEx.

Yeah.. I was thinking about just getting a MC303 tbh.. Originally. They're going on Ebay for about €100ish.. Then I was thinking about an Electribe.

I've seen fellas on Logic Pro Help talking about getting MC303's going.. so figured it must be pretty straightforward enough.. Famous last words! :pac:

This is a MC303 with Ableton.. Saw it the other day. Is this what you're talking about? Seems possible krd. What grooveboxes do you have?

I'd highly recommend using an Electribe ER-1. I've an ER-1 Mk.II I use for this exact purpose and I couldn't fault it. Pair it with Drumazon/Nepheton/Phosycon hosted in Ableton with external parameters mapped to a BCR-2000 and I've got the best modded 808/909/303 setup you could imagine for peanuts.

(if you didn't get the VST references check out d16.pl)

in his swing setttings in lofic he had imported the swing settings of old groove boxes.
anyone know how to do it and where to get the groove templates for em

    I have a MC 505 - A Roland D2 - And a roland SP808

I don't have an MC303 - but I'd know how to work one.

None of them are perfectly straightforward. I keep stumbling across new bits of functionality in them.

But every control and setting can be reached by SysEx or Midi (I can't do the SysEx at the minute on it)
