Looking for peoples opinions on purchasing apple care on ebay.

Mine runs out in December and have come across this seller. Seller has 67 feebacks with 100%
    http://myworld.ebay.ie/jt.apps/
    €65-€70 compared to €250 from apple.ie

Is it worth the chance? Anyone have good or bad experience with purchasing apple care on ebay?

Bought mine on ebay and never had any problems. I HAVE heard however Apple requesting the serial number on the box and without would not honour the warranty. So, to be safe, get the actual box delivered (or serial no. from it) . Although the vast majority on ebay work without problems.

I would recommend caution. There's a serious question mark over the legitimacy of these cheap Applecare codes. The sellers will claim they are legit and that they have the packaging, but they don't. They are getting these codes in bulk from another source. The truth is they probably don't even know themselves where these codes are coming from.

They'll email you the code, you'll enter it on the Apple site and everything will work fine. But if Apple decide a month or year from now that your Applecare code is invalid - or if a person with possession of the original box/receipt returns it for a refund - you are screwed. Apple don't have to honour Applecare without the original packaging and receipt.

Now I bought an Applecare code from Ebay myself and it's still valid according to Apple's site, but people have gotten burned from buying on Ebay. And since Apple can revoke the coverage at anytime and request proof, the seller's feedback ratings don't mean squat.

Seems i need to thread with caution then. Maybe just me but it seems strange that the seller is using the same picture for all adds!
Ive asked a few questions to the seller. Box ever been opened, will they ship the box after sale. Will keep you posted on how it goes.

Got mine from same person, and was well worth it, runs out next month, but in the time i Had it, I got the machine replaced for new (pre Unibody) macbook pro, and just 2 weeks ago had the Superdrive and battery replaced under warranty. Seller sent me the actual Applecare box and was received very quickly.

    Recommend this seller
