As has already been pointed out, Cadet Jevens is to be buried today so flags will be flying at half mast.

I thought that action was reserved to the likes of TD's and such. I never heard of this happening when a soldier dies. Maybe I didn't notice it before. Any clarification on this? Do you need to be a specific rank for this to happen? Or how exactly does it work?

its usually at half mast to signal Mary Harney's feeding time. She has to load up before she goes into hibernation for the winter.

In the army each individual soldier is breed to believe that they solely are important and have they are instilled with belief in this power. Its this gesture shows that the men above value the lives of each men in the division no matter what ranking.

In barracks' and occupied posts, if any member of the DF has died the flag will fly at half mast. The same is supposed to be done on all State buildings equipped with a flag pole. Although always done in military installations, I'd imagine it's not always done in Governemnt buildings.

The fact that Cadet Jevens was still serving when he died, is most likely why the flag is flying at half mast.

Its to mourn the fact that Gary Barlow is appearing on the late late show.
