    Hi All
I have a 99 Vw golf and there is a strange noise coming from rear right wheel. It only happens when im going around a corner it kinda sounds like i have a flat tyre. What could it be and is it something i could fix myself.

Thanks for any replies in advance

Sounds like a wheel bearing on its way out.

Jack up the car and check the rear wheel for play (it shouldn't have any ..if it jiggles, you're bearing is banjaxed)

Replacing a wheel bearing is not something for a hobby mechanic to attempt. While technically straightforward, there are a few things that can quickly complicate matters immensely if done wrong.

Don't put it on the long finger either. Wheel bearings can sometimes fail catastrophically and you could end up having an accident

    Do you have wheel trims?
    Does the tyre look ok?
Have you check that all wheels have correct pressure?

Checked wheel everything fine. Also noticed car is very bumpy and everytime i go over little pothole i can feel it in back right wheel. Could it be bushings or suspension or something.

    Thanks for replies

I had trims on a old car and had a weird noise from right front wheel when I turned right.
Took them off and the noise stopped, it was a small crack in the trim that was causing the noise.

In your case the noise seems more serious though.

Sounds like suspension or something broken. What are bushings and how would I know if there broken. Could I replace them myself?

    Thanks for your advice

Are there any oil type leaks? check around cv joints, the rubber garters in particular. I attached a pic of anti roll bar bushings (the red type washer) , there are many bushings on a cars suspension, there is a bit of work involved changing these. Leave it to a mechanic to change them.
