What are the essential bits needed for lamping foxes - there all kinds of packs availabel, i.e.

"The NIGHT HUNTER 170 Predator hunting pack is the ultimate SCOPE MOUNTED LIGHT SYSTEM for firearms."

Assume one needs a lamp, battery and charger? Any recommendations on the lightforce lamp types?

Get yerself a cheap 1 million candlelight torch from a hardware store,
a 12 volt bulb, a volt converter (from 6v to 12v), 4 foot of cable, and a good used motorcycle / jetski batteriee, cut an carve, replace items, an old shoulder bag / ruck sack for transport, and bobs yer uncle,
you will have the best, and brightest lamp on the field, at a budget price,
    hope this helps.

I agree but they are so light you would not know they were on the rifle

Point taken on weight hunter, but my is lamp is light enough for rifle (1,000,000) candles, try
make one when you get some time, great pass-time, and keep's you out of er in-door's
    way, cheap easy and light-weight.

if you are using a motorbike battery , cut an old plastic oil gallon in half and drop battery into it first in case of spillage. plenty of jackets ruined down through the years

go to your nearest electrical wholesaler and buy a couple of 12volt 8ah alarm batteries and charge them with a regular car battery charger i think you will need 2 of them to make sure you have enough power for a lamping session;)
