I Know they're High5 but does anybody know are they the normal ones or the isogels? My stomach can only handle the isogels.
    Thanks.

I think it was the regular ones last year, although they did have some flavours I'd not tried before which I didn't think much of.

SIS Gels - never change from them , brought 6 for Dublin last year , started takin them at half way , did the job perfectly - no water needed and reasonable taste

Ya can get them in Tescos

Actually just read your post properly - yeah high 5's last year and power gels just bring your own

2 safety pins - 3 gels on each pinned inside your shorts on each hip - thats the trick !

Or alternatively you could just put them in your pocket :D

I carried 6 in Berlin recently. You just need bigger pockets!

I want to carry a few of my own gels on the day, but have only a key pocket on my shorts of choice, so putting them in a pocket is out of the question. I've tried the safety pin to shorts on a LSR and found I couldn't open it while running and ended up breaking the pin to get at my gel. Do I simply need to keep working on this option? Do you not find they flap around alot on the safety pin??

You could put them inside a watch I know max you can carry is 2 per watch. I'll be taking 4 but thats with stop watch and HRM watch :).

I've practiced running with 3 strapped to my arm with elastic headbands - works a charm but looks ridiculous. Might try the safety pin option out....

What do all you guys wear running, I've 4 pairs of running shorts, 3 different brands, and they all only have a small key pocket inside the front. Are ye running in cycling jerseys!?!?!?

    Here my set up

1 pair of half length skins

then for the marathon I wore my adidas swimming shorts with the net bit inside - http://www.marathonfoto.com/view_watermark.cfm?CustomerNumber=S23P08&NegsNumber=55792644&Orientation=P

Then got a 1inch saftey pin and attached 3 gels to each and pinned it to short band - then the sat nicely against my leg and the netting in the shorts stopped them bouncing around , my gel strategy was 1 ever 30 min - broken into 1/2 gel every 15 mins - and i just tore them open from the pin ending the race with 2 safety pins with 3 opening tabs on each

My set up is identical to yours except my shorts have nice big pockets on each side. I plan on carring a whole packet of jelly babies in one of the pockets because I cannot hack gels at all

These are a lot cheaper to buy on Wiggle. However, given that the marathon is fast approaching a bulk order might be a bit of a waste unless you have other events coming up or do long runs or cycles on a regular basis.
