i'll probably be laughed outta here as this question has probably been asked about 10 million times but here goes.......

Me and a mate are looking for head to the States for a week and take in 3 nights in NYC and another 3/4 nights in Vegas. We saw a deal thats all inclusive €699 including flights and hotels for 3 nights in NYC and 3 in Vegas. Is this the best possible price we could get?

Would it be cheaper if we booked it all ourselves seeing as that deal was available from a travel agent?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Run Forest.... Run

Seriously run with that, it is a super deal, I did ten nights in Vegas and 3 in NY and I paid €1200 for the Vegas flight and Hotel and another €500 for Vegas to JFK and Newark to Shannon, my accommodation in NY was free as it was with relatives there. That is an excellent deal, run with it, just be sure that it is legit with those sort of prices.

Thats insane, you'd drop at least €500 on flights alone if you were to do this yourself. Out of curiosity what hotels are used for it?

Unless you are prepared to scrub decks on a tramp steamer.

I stayed in the Circus Circus a few years back and never again. Its down the end of the strip so you have a bit of walk back to the middle but you can get the bus as well or taxi down. I've stayed in the MGM last two times and its expensive but worth the extra.

+1 on avoiding Circus Circus. It's very much aimed at families/kids.

Am sure you can add a supplement to that offer to get a better hotel (stay on the Strip) in Vegas.

On the plus side the Wellington is in a great location just off Times Square and while it's nothing special its perfectly adequate for New York.

Circus Circus is just about alright. Its a big room in a big hotel etc.

If you could pay an extra €50 each for a better Vegas hotel it'd be worth it though, you'll spend at least that on 3/4 taxis back to Circus Circus in the early hours.

The trip is value though, I doubt you could do much better booking flights/accom independently.

Like everyone else has said, stay away from Circus Circus. You can get a nicer place for a little more. Also stay away from the Stratosphere and Imperial Palace.
