What is the best bluetooth headset available for in game chat? ie. COD4 and stuff.

In my local shopping centre, I can get:
    15636_1234436800.jpg
    the gioteck ex-01(€19.99)

    gem-ex-01-geotech-playstation-3-bluetooth-wireless-headset.jpg
    or the official sony one(€39)

    any one from argos

or the mad catz ps3 headset(€29.99) from gamestop which I can't find a pic for...

Which of these do you think is best? I'm looking for a comfortable one with a good mic and sound... hopefully the best one is the cheapest but I'm willing to pay whichever one...

    Thanks,
    Jackobyte94

Picking up the Sony one myself in the next day or two so I'll let you know what it's like.

It is said to be the better of the headsets out there

Do you mean loudness as in your output or input? Mine seems fine in both cases though.

Ya to the OP id definately go for the Sony one, i have had no issues, everyone seems to be able to understand me perfectly. Which is a surprise :p.

Get it online if you can, its almost have the price.

    Hey
I use the the gioteck ex-01. I paid 25 euros for it when i bought it of xtra vision. I have to say i lovev it. Its really cool. The sound quality is great and the mic works just fine. I use it a lot. Its very light on the ears. it also has a mute button which is very easy to operate.

I would give it a 4.5/5. That being said. This is the only bluetooth headset that i have ever used . I only use it for gaming ( but i use it a lot). I am sure that the sony's brand would be nice too but i wouldnt know anything about it.

    have fun !

I have both the gioteck and Sony one. Gioteck mic is extraordinarily sensitive, the only way to get it to stop broadcasting is to hold your breath. Your better off getting the Sony, i think it's brilliant and it's capable of HD sound in compatible games, plus when your charging it you can dock it and still use it as a mic.

I'll warn you. DO NOT get the top one, never worked for me :/

I placed an order on play.com just this morning for the offical one for €23.50

I can tell you that the giotek is crap, ended up hurting my ear because of the way it sits if I used it for more than 20min at a time.

the mad katz one was better but it doesn't sit very flush against your ear so people could hear me fine but I had problems hearing them sometimes. It can also flap about a bit when you move your head causing it to bounce against your ear can be quite annoying.

I didn't want to fork out for another headset so I went for a usb set of logitech headphones instead, with a mic of course. works for me since with my setup I'm pretty close to my ps3 anyway, way better than a bluetooth headset though.

The Sony one looks pretty uncomfortable to me, would that be one of those that hurts like hell after using it for 15 minutes?

No, at least not for me anyway.

I've used it fairly extensively. Very nice piece of kit to be honest. Everything you need is on it and it can be charged using the same USB connector you have for your controller. It has a nice stand as well.

that's really good actually, might look into getting one from play then, thought the headset would count as electronics and since play doesn't ship electronics to Ireland I never really paid any attention to the price.

Ordered one from Play last week & got an email Saturday to say it had been posted =] I think it's just bulky electronics & consoles etc that they won't post. Happy days!!

Hi guys, bit of a ps3 noob here - if I was being a complete tightwad for the moment - is it possible to use your phone if it has bluetooth as a mic? I'm guessing when you use the headset audio comes through it to, so everything would sound buttastic.

Anymore feedback about the sony one? Bizzarre-Ink? araonh007? nevelator?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,283 ✭✭✭Glico Man

Yeah tis probably the best headset I've got. I have the one that came with Warhawk, a madcatz one and another cheap mobile phone one and the Sony one is by far the best

I just use the official Sony Camera. It has microphone built in and can not complain... Same price, but much more confortable in my opinion...

Even better is to get this:

EyePet with camera and Magic Card for an extra fiver...
