What exactly do the JAA (JAR?) class 1 and 2 medical exams entail? Looking online doesn't seem to tell a lot. What would cause you to fail them?
    Thanks

eyesite is a big one i failed my class 1 due to a lazy eye but was issued with a class 2 med as there not as strict for the class 1.

i wore glasses for the first time and went back to do the class 1 and passed.

hearing& breathing can be another one people fail on

Are you looking to become a commercial pilot? If not, stick with the Class 2. Lots of things to fail on, I nearly failed on lung tidal volume. Just go do it, you'll need to get an xray and a blood test but that's about it.

Any idea what a class 2 costs?

€120. There's a list of qualified doctors on the IAA website.

Ya, I think the closest one to me is in Westport.

I did a class 2 last year in the Lucan Court Medical Centre for €160. It was the cheapest I could find in the Dublin area. I've recently done the class 1 in Gatwick for £330.
