First try just plain defrag man, clean out old files you don't want, defrag again, and see what's changed. It's probably just Windows rot.

first cause of a slow pc is programs eating up resources

    Fix

    >start>all Programs>Accesories>Run

    Type "msconfig"
    click ok

    click the "start up" Tab

untick any programs you dont need
this doesnt delete the programs just stops them from startin at boot

do not untick anything related to antivirus
    and you should be fine

second cause is gettin virus, spyware, malware (Porn Freak)

you can use all the tools in the world and it may actually speed up your pc
but to be 100% free of infection is to recover to factory defaults

    thanks for reading

You can use winpatrol, it's free:
    http://www.winpatrol.com/download.html
and remove the startup items there (NOT the secret startups) as it shows much more than msconfig.

    1-Defrag the C drive
2-Add more Ram, that will speed up the PC considerably
3-download malwarebytes and remove all it finds as there could be some malware on your PC.
4-If you have norton or mcafee installed I would suggest going to their websites and using their uninstaller to remove them properly. They are the BIGGEST resource hogs and will really bog down a PC
5-Use a Free AV like MSE:
    http://www.microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/
as it leaves a very small footprint and works great.
6-Download Ccleaner and use it to clean out all the excess junk on the PC. Also clean the registry with that safely.

That should speed up the PC considerably.
