i had a look around the forum for a similar thread but alas, couldnt find anything.

    so heres my situation..

i have an iphone 3G 16gb that was given to me as a hand me down.

im currently on meteor pay as you go.

id rather not unlock my iphone and im happy enough to move to 02.

so im just wondering, can i basically go into 02, with my iphone, and get set up relatively easy?

id like to be on pay as you go but have the data plan so i can access 3G with a modest enough bandwidth.

    any help?

Yes you can, you can port your number to O2 and sign up for one of the iPhone tariffs without having to buy an iPhone...

I would advise you not to go to o2, as their iphone plans are way overpriced and are designed to claw back money from you to make up for the fact that o2 gave you a subsidised iphone(although not you).

I have a 3gs, im with meteor on billpay lite 25(25 euro)..i get 300 any times mins, free meteor to meteor calls and txts and can get a data add on from as little as 5 euro.

same from o2 would cost at least double.

If you move to o2 anyway, you mite as well get a subsidised iphone 3gs and sell it for 500 euro plus...

edit: that plan im on is no longer available, it has been replaced with bill pay lite 30 (30 euro)

it includes 200 min+200 txts, free m to m calls and txts..not as good, but still not bad.

well, this would involve me unlocking the phone, which would involve jailbreaking...which is something i want to avoid..

i do really like the idea of bill pay lite though.

Have you looked at the O2 Clear Sim plans? They're similar to Billpay Lite (i.e. billpay, with a 30 day contract), and allow you buy a data bundle (unlike prepay, where you can only use the 99c for 50MB in one day option).

They're not as cheap as Meteor, but if you want to stick with O2 that's probably your best option.

    oh thanks..
    ill take a look...

this is getting confusing now. im looking at meteor here and i can basically stick with my current set-up but get a 5iver a month data plan...

means unlocking the phone though. hmmm.

ive been an ipod touch owner since launch and have tones of apps that i wouldve liked to have ported over to the iphone. i presume i wont be able to do that now?

    thanks for the help.

    R:E:02 clear...

"Free Extra with 500MB Mobile Internet Usage is not available on iPhone plans. Subject to fair usage policy."

okay, i spoke to 02 there. i can get an 02 clear card and pay 7-50 for 250 mb data then on top of that. which isnt too bad. hmmmm.

now, to unlock or not to unlock.
