No. You're only covered for automatic cars. Did you not realise this when you sat your test in an auto? This means auto for life, unless you re-sit your test in a manual.

i understand it means i can only drive automatic but i thought seen as i was provisional on a manual before i did any test that i would still have this and be only full with an automatic
so if i want to go back and sit my test again to get full for manual do i have to apply for another provisional first or how does it work?

Interesting question but afaik you can get another provisional (Learners Permit now) to cover you driving a manual, accompanied of course.

A friend of mine had to get a Provisional A(before they changed to permits) for his bike and he had a Full B at the time

Is the code 78 on the right hand leaf of the license where the license is unfolded with the picture facing up?

To drive a car with manual transmission on a public road, you will be required to have a category B Learner Permit and be accompanied by someone with an unrestricted B Licence and who has held that unrestricted licence for at least 2 years.

(78 should be printed on the inside of your existing licence on the righthand column).

I wonder can a provisional driver be accompanied by someone with a full licence who did the test in an auto? I would think that they can.

So if the cops pulled you over on your provisional manual licence could you accompany yourself in this case?

AFAIK once you surrendered your provisional license it instantly became expired/invalid.

I believe that is the case as well

If the Code 78 Restriction isn't on the licence then it's a full licence, so the OP wouldn't have to get another Learner's Permit or do a test.

There's another thread on the same topic here

Quick question on the reverse of this. Got my full licence this year for a manual car. If I want to drive an auto will I have to redo my test?
