Always if you have a CD burner there will be some form of software installed. Even XP will do it for you in folder view.

Are you sure you actually have a burner?

Not sure, not very computer literate!!How do I check?I was able to transfer all my CD's on to itunes,if that makes a difference??Excuse my ignorance!I just presumed my computer would have one built in!!

Hmmm - there a big difference between taking music off CD onto your hard drive and doing the opposite!

It sounds like your PC/laptop doesn't have a CD burner - that is - you only have a CD reader that won't allow you to actually write to a disc.

A way to tell in XP might be to do the following:

Open "My Computer". Your (D) drive is your CD rom drive. Make sure you have no disc in the drive and double-click on that. If you have a CD burner it will open the folder, and one of the options on the left hand menu will say "CD Writing Tasks".

If you don't have a CD burner, you'll probably just get a prompt saying your drive is empty or something.

    G'luck. :)
