So a few weeks ago I checked out my local scrap yards for a alloy that I broke.. and none came back with one. SO I eventually went to my local volvo dealer to order one.

I was a bit shocked is to say the lest but i thought I have to get one.

Now I paid a deposit of 100 euro and sense Ive found a wheel up north in a scrap yard... Is there any chance of seeing my money back or is it gone? :(

Well even if you lose your 100 euro and buy up the north you still will be quids in.Sorry not much of a consolation.

To be fair to the dealer if the alloy has actually been delivered to their premises they will have to pay delivery + return delivery & a re-stocking charge. May be not €100.

The most important point though, have you actually rang the dealer to find out yet? Chances are they will give you your deposit back without any drama.

if it was not in stock with the distributor, then the dealer cannot return it to them, if supplied as ordered.

My friend tried to order a Thermostat from Volvo dealer and they wanted a deposit of 300e for part that costs maybe 10e:)

So I will walk as far away from Volvo dealers as possible.

Sounds like your friend is talking complete and utter bullsh*t to me.Why would any dealer ask for more than the part is worth as a deposit??
Makes no sense at all.If anything they`d ask for the full amount which if youre friend is correct would be around 12 euros.

The way we work it is that anything over 50 euros needs a 50% deposit.Anything over 200 euros must be paid for in full.Obviously if its warranty part no deposit is required or if your a trade bloke known to us.

OP have you a picture of the wheel?I have some volvo alloys here in stock that the liquidator is selling off cheap.

I dont go to a mail dealer for anything

There are plenty of replica wheels for sale on Ebay :)

He only needed one though which probably has to match the other 3 OEM alloy wheels.

Well put it this way theres 220k of stock belonging to old company that the new company doesnt want.Basically they want to start afresh.Think the breakdown is something like 200k Volvo and 20k Honda.
Its mainly body panels,bumpers-front and rear, lamps, accessories, trim panels, suspension parts, loads of shocks.
All the service stuff is gone except for the really old Volvo stuff.

I am looking for a Volvo Centaurus (16" multi-spoke) alloy wheel. I wonder would any of those be in stock?

    It's always worth shopping around.

When i damaged one of the alloys on my C70, I called Volvo in Limerick, Galway and one in Swansea.

Pricing for the exact same alloy (17" Comet, genuine Volvo) was 540 EUR in Limerick, 470 EUR in Galway and 390 EUR (incl. shipping) from Swansea. This is a few years back, but I bet things haven't changed.

    Always shop around, seriously.
