Another Toll Query

Is there a comprehesive list of the companies who sell toll tags?

Also, do they all work for all toll booths, or are there some that only work on a few of the booths? (I'm basing this question on the M50 being run my one company, and the M4 by another, with th M1 presumably run by another).

Are there differencs in the rates charged by different companies?

Can you top up your account like prepaid mobile account (buying credit in shops), or only by credit/debit card or direct debit?

If you put, for example, €50 credit on your account, but don't use it all in 12 months, does the account expire, or do you need to keep topping it up?

Can you put multiple cars on one account, with same/different registered owners/registered addresses? (We have 5 vehicles registered in 4 names to 2 addresses, none of which currently see much motorway individually).

The reason for the above is because, so far, I've managed to avoid the M50 since they took away the Brands Hatch gates, and on the M4 I just pay at the toll bridge. With another toll bridge about to open on the soon to open section of the M6, combined with a few airport runs coming up, I am thinking about opening account, but have no idea where to get information. Different journeys will require different vehicles (car/van/jeep), and I can't see the point in having several accounts, unless there's no extra cost.

    Sorry about the long post.

    David.

Unashamedly bumping this in order to get a relevant answer.

I got the toll tag that E-Flow (the M50 operators) provide and it's worked at every toll I've come across so far. You set the account up as either a pre or post pay account so you can top it up if you like. I don't know about the expiry of credit though.

The tag is very useful at the tolls that still have gates, no need to stop as the barriers will open as you drive towards them and they read your tag.

I used to have one of these also. Was very useful when I was travelling to Dublin every day but I have since gotten rid of it cos of the monthly charge....

I find www.tolltag.ie good. Covers everything. Only charged when you use the tolls - no monthly charge. Auto top up.

Thanks folks. I'm still trying to find answers to my questions, though; the websites don't, as far as I can find, show costs or multiple vehicles!

Just a small query re tolltag.ie. I recently got myself one and was wondering if it worked on the M8 one in Fermoy. Is it a case of driving up and the barrier open automatically? Or is there a barrier on the 'quick' lane of the toll booth on the M8 at all?

There is a barrier on the "Eflow/tolltag" lane and it lifts when you get near it.

Cheers. I haven't used it before so I'm not quite sure how it works or if I 've stuck it in the proper place. I've placed mine behind the mirror (above it) on the black dots. Thats hopefully should suffice.

    I don't want to end up with a cabriolet!!:D
