    In relation to 2nd year of a 3 year engineering course, is there an award for a student of the year for the higher cert???

    It's at the discretion of the department. Most higher certs are "embedded awards" and only really come into play if you are leaving education after thw 2 years. In fact, I think all student of the year type awards are up to each department to facilitate, and some departments don't seem to bother with it too much. I'm trying to remember the graduation last year, and I don't think there was such an award for 2nd years. The only ones I can think of were the level 7 awards.
