Reading Medal Index Cards

Hi. I was wondering if someone could give me a bit of help regarding medal index cards. I have a ww1 war medal for a member of Royal Munster Fusiliers 2cd Batt for service in the Balkans. His card says he received the victory and 14-15 star as well but I don't have those.
What I want to know is what the "qualifying date" means. His is down as "9.7.15" So how does this work? Does this mean he arrived in the Balkans on this date, or is it like modern UN medals where you must be in a theatre for a length of time before qualifying? Any help would be greatly appriciated.

I was going to post a picture of my 1882 Khedive star to Corp in Royal Irish Dragoon Guards and 1900 + 1903 Royal Visit to Ireland medals named to same individual in DMP but I'm having problems with it, will do so tomorrow.

i think it means (not sure) he has qualified for it at that date....as in he has spent two months at the front or what ever the qualifying things are for that specific medal

    edit.....
id go with post below... im no expert at anything

it is my understanding that "9.7.15" is the date he landed in the theatre of battle, when he hit the beach.

The date is not shown on the majority of medal index cards, more so on earlier ones. The date that you mention sounds like the date R.D.F has confirmed above to be,the date he entered into a theatre of war,be it France and Flanders, the Balkins and so on.The soldier would of had possible previous service and definitely had training previous to this date all researchable on the net.
