    Hi all,

This is probably in the wrong section altogether. Apologies if it is.

I need help in finding out the dimensions in feet of a square acre of land. The only thing I can find out on the net is that it would be the amount of land you could plough with an ox unfortunately I dont have an ox!!!

Surely its just a certain amount of feet in length and a certain amount of feet in width that can be stepped out with a measuring tape without need for special equipement. It doesn't have to be bang on just roughly will do.

    Cheers

I believe an acre is 4840 square yards whish can be measured approx 60 yards x 80 yards

For a squrae plot measure the length (x) and the width (y) in metres.
10,000 square mts is one Hectare, or 2.472 Acres.

    For example
The length is 43M and width is 25M.
    Area is 43x25= 1075 M2

    hectare , 1075/10000 = 0.1075 hectare
    Acres, 0.1075 * 2.472 = 0.265 Acres

    Hope this helps.
An easy way to remember is 100M by 100M is one Hectare (or 2.5 Acres approx)

    1 Acre = 43560 square feet

    43560 square feet = 208.71ft x 208.71ft

1 Acre is a square of 208.71ft sides

do you not Divide Square metres by 4047 to get an acre.eg.10,000m²/4047=2.47acres

Yeah same thing, but Metres is metric and acre is imperial.
It is better to work with just metres and Hectares, 10,000M2 = 1 Hectare
