So apparently the Pav is opening back up this Friday... Anyone else hear this?

Great news. Was in there for lunch today and it was very cramped. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Was in there last night, its looking good, workmen seem to be doing a round the clock job! They were still there around 8pm last night! Think Friday is a fairly silly day to have it reopen though! Wont most students be gone for the weekend!

Word on the street is the disabled toilets are the new place on campus for "sexytime" .

Lols, once there was a couple caught at it in the disabled toilets the bar where I work, there's no lock on the door so it was a really stupid idea, so I guess that's a disclaimer on the 'sexytime' idea.

Pav friday to the rescue anyway, just back from the DUCAC AGM and they said:

Function room will be advertised as for Parties / 21sts. You can get special deals, they were vague on that though.
You can get a projector from them too. They have a Deal with Heineken, they said, dunno what that'll entail.
They also are thinking of bringing in a burger and a beer deal.

They currently spend 5.5k€ on Sports Channel subscriptions annually.


Total cost of building: €690k
125k€ from disability grant
220k€ from savings
225k€ loan from college
50k€ donation from college
So they're 70k€ in debt currently.

Sure can, Sky charge astronomical rates for public broadcast of their services. It seems while it's great for the publicans, and people enjoy the atmosphere and the social side of watching the match at the weekends, Sky would rather we all went home and sat alone watching our own telly, and collectively paid them a bomb!

Wasn't too impressed with the last do-over. It lost some its character and became more Q-bar like. But I'm rather looking forward to seeing its most recent incarnation. I'm in sweden doing nightshift experiments until monday though :mad: so won't get to see it for a few days yet. If anyone wants to take a pic I'd be much obliged

On a related note, the only way to retain file permissions after uploading files, I found, is to zip them. Otherwise it just changes. Useful for .cmds, elseways irrelevant.

.tar.gz also retains file attributes, along with permissions etc.
