I am off to Cheltenham tomorrow for races on Friday and would like to impress some English friends that I know something about horses (which I don't - my only claim to fame was that I was in the Winners enclosure in Leopardstown when my dad had a share in a great horse who won about 5 races a few years back). So can some knowledgeable kind person point out a few horses that I should be looking out for (Friday only). Thanks

snap tie should win 2.55 rated 160 over hurdles

4.05 is between the 2 hobbs horses,[parsons legacy always runs well fresh

5.15 Gaora Lane has avery good jockey booking..horse always runs well at chelt

either mccoy or geraghty in last..

Thanks very much. Will study the Racing Post on Friday morning and pay special attention to these.

I am told the ground is a bit of a worry as there has been very little rain in Cheltenham since early September. So if anyone knows of any horses this might suit it would be much appreciated.

Overall these did very well. We had a great day. I was really impressed with Cheltenham and will hopefully be back again soon.

Had the 2nd horse in the 2.20
Had the winner in the 2.55 (Snap Tie tipped above)
Had the winner in the 4.40
My English friends backed the winner in the 5.15 (Gaora Lane tipped above came 2nd
We all went for The Jig Saw Man in the 5.50 (tipped above as ridden by Tony McCoy)

    Thanks once again

MasterMinded at 8/13 is like finding money in the street. The more you put down the more you get back.

will keep an eye out on tramp stamp

would not be touching master minded @ 8/13.
giving 10lbs to well chief,1st run of year, not fully wound up,soft ground, not his 1st primary target this year
I hope he wins as I love seeing the top horses run.
I will be over there but I think I'll watch this race;)

Paul Nicholls trains this horse. If you think Nicholls would send him there undercooked then your insane. Beat Well Chief in the QMCC when not fully fit plus WC is made of glass. 8/13 about a 1/4 shot is ridiculous value

I wouldn't be taking that price either. Just cant take it on a seasonal debut giving 10lbs. Too many 'good things' have failed already this year FTO not that I wa on any of them. Notre Pere fell and he doesn't fall.

The record of good things first time out make no difference, this is the champion chaser, possibly the best 2 miler of the last 20 years.

Having said that, listening to DJ just now makes me think again

MM wasn't fully fit for the QMCC?

I haven't seen this before. Do you have a link?

nuff said, hope you didn't lose too much

    was at parade ring yesterday
master minded wasnt as "tight" as he walked around, which was to be expected as he wasnt fully fit
massive worry is the way he jumped right,as if something was hurting him at the take off
another worry was the close proximity of newmill to both master minded & well chief.
to those that took the odds on about MM,hope its a lesson learned, nicholls more or less said he was undercooked for yesterday.hard to give weight away when horses are not at their peak

all in all a good weekend

It's in PFN book lucky break. Injured in the Victor Chandler but he kept quiet cause he thought MM would win 80% fit.

Also I wonder is that the end of Master Minded, at first glance you might think I'm after losing it but look closer. French Breds have a much shorter shelf life, fact, perhaps he's had enough already, been jumping since he was 2/3 maybe he doesn't want to know anymore. Saying that I hope he hacks up in the tingle creek as I like this horse a lot.

And before someone mentions Kauto Star being French bred, like someone said to me, he's the exception not the rule

Indeed, french breds have a tendancy to go sour after two or three excellent years.

Mon Mome did nothing if note last year bar that Grand National win and the National is hugely dependant on luck more than any other race.

    jaysus,u couldnt make it up!
1st french breed to win the g.national & your knocking him
also a listed chase winner @ cheltenham
runner up in a welsh national

    yeh your right...nothing of note!

you'll probably say that all of willie mullins french breed horses wont train on!

if only newmill had his ground we could of had some weekend there with tranquil sea winning also:)
i think the problem with newmill is that when he won the champion chase they burnt him out by runnin him there after in every mickey mouse race he could get in to..i think if he was with a shrewder trainer they would of got more out of him but heres hopin we see the real newmill on festival day

nobody is saying they wont train on, its a fact that they decline at and earlier age in to irish bred horses generally
