I joined a cover band around a month ago to sing and have had about 5 practice sessions.

I can sing most arctic monkeys, oasis, u2 etc. but a lot of their set is out of my range (coldplay, nirvana etc.) the lead guitarist has a good voice for these songs and can sing most of them. The setlist is picked and we currently split singing the songs about 50/50. am I wasting my time here as they wont change the set list and is there any point in being in a band to sing half the songs ?

    OR

Can I train myself to sing the higher songs (coldplay etc.)

    Thanks

Maybe learn an instrument i.e. bass or acoustic. It will add to the sound and you wont feel like a spare nob when other guy sings. Also concentrate on vocal harmonies too. Its as valuable as another instrument.
