Triathlon Training Advice wanted please

I have just joined Piranha and am looking for advice on how much training I should be doing each week.
I did my first triathlon in August (pulse). Didn't get a time as chip was broken but it was between 1.15-20 and I want to improve on this next season. I would also like to try the Olympic distance.
My strongest leg is running as I have been competing in running for the last 5 years. I am used to running 6/7 days a week with 2 sessions but don't know what to cut it down to for the Triathlon training.
I am doing the swimming sessions twice a week with Piranha but am not sure how much running and bike training I should be doing.
Any advice is welcome... Cheers :)

    Hey there.

Just a few questions - you ran competitively I take it? What distances? What recent PBs have you gotten?

What is your standard of swimming line? Can you swim 400m? If so in what time?
What about cycling? Do you ride often?

I'm not being smart when I say this and I don't know if there are still training sessions with your club in winter but the best thing you can do is go to training sessions or post up about informal training sessions and get to know your club mates and get advice from them.

There's no way I'd have got through the first year without the support and help from my club mates. I've made some brilliant friends and received so much great advice.

I have raced anywhere between 800m and 10K
I ran 5K in 17.01 and 5 miles in 28.44 earlier this year. I ran 38.40ish I think for 10K but that was a few years ago.

I swam 700m in around 20mins or maybe just under in the pulse tri. I started my swimming training 4 weeks before the race. Haven't timed myself in the pool yet.

I was travelling to and from work (8 miles each way) training for the tri in August. I did a longish cycle on a Sunday up howth hill. I have just started back cycling last week.

I would like to bring my sprint tri time down to sub 1.10. I would like to compete in at least one Olympic tri next year, not sure about times until I get a taste for it first.

I have tried posting the same thread on my club's website but it keeps throwing up an error. I will talk to the administrator but in the meantime I was looking for some information to get me going.

Also I am doing the swimming training sessions with the tri club. I don't think they are doing cycling sessions at the moment.

I am doing running sessions with my running club but am looking for advice on how much running I should be doing considering the cycling and swimming training. My running coach still wants me to run 7 days a week but I don't think that's realistic !
