    Hi all,

I currently have to do an assignment for a Masters course Im doing in HR. It involves coming up with a plan for recruiting both trainee and experienced pilots.

Im just wondering does anyone on here know where I might find old or current advertisement for pilots with a job spec/descripton included ? Do ads tend to be in the national press or some sort of industry magazine ? Also do pilots tend to get recruited directly or through an agency, if by an agency do you know the names of the main ones ? Also how often do the Irish Airforce recruit and where do they advertise ?

    Any help much appreciated.

In the old days when Aer Lingus ran Cadet programmes they would advertise them in the national press (Irish Times, Indo, Sunday Tribune etc).

I once saw them advertise for direct entry pilots in the jobs section of The Irish Times - that advert had specific requirements listed (e.g. ATPL, ME/IR etc).

Flight International would be worth looking at for current vacancies & advertisements (you'll get it in Easons).

If you have a bit of time go to one of the Flight Training schools and talk to the instructors. Almost all are either waiting to be called to an airline or are actual airline pilots and would be a mine of infromation. If you are near Dublin Weston is the place to go.

Suggest you have a look at Ryanair's website. With particular emphasis on their 'cadet' recruitment. That is the future of pilot recruitment. You have to buy your job.

Do ads tend to be in the national press or some sort of industry magazine ? Rarely if ever in newspapers, sometimes in Flight Internationl particularly for contract work. Pilot jobs aren't usually advertised anymore. Pilots simply send CVs to every airline and operator they fancy. But many, many jobs are word of mouth and who you know and if you've got the money Ryanair or Aer Arann.

The Ryanair model is the one you should really look at for your assignment though. It's gradually being copied by all the others.

I know several of the sandpit airlines such as Emirates and Ethiad in particular have pilot ads on their websites at the moment. Also the loco's over there, Air Arabia,Al Jazeera are in expansion mode at the moment.

Some of the websites for Asian airlines in India and China aswell would have a good chance of pilot recruitment at the moment also.

UK airline Flybe have almost a permanent ad for cadets from what I can rememeber on their website.

Word of mouth and who you know is definetly widespread, although from time to time you see banner ads from foreign airlines on www.pprune.org
