Golf GTi what ??? sorry ok....

Mugen got there filthy litte grubs on it It makes me dribble thinking about it :D
Oh sorry the Civic Type R
A point bourne out when the Stig takes the wheel at the TG test track. There we are surrounded on all sides by barren airfield for at least 200 metres, and as I turn 360 degrees, there he is, a foot behind me. As if he's beamed down from planet Helmet. Not so much a keen driver as completely psychotic, the Stig pounds the Mugen around and around until it runs out of petrol, then abandons the car with the keys in it and the door open. As he walks past on the way to God-knows-where, he gives me a thumbs-up. At least that's what it looked like. If you squint.

Its a nice machine, but its no RS Focus. Touch and go even compared to the ST.

I personally prefer the jap version (Saloon)

You do realise that the 'exhausts' on that are actually fake.... just chrome tubes mounted on the aero-kit?

Its front-wheel drive - right - so is the massive rear spoiler designed to make the steering lighter at high speeds or just to add drag

You'd be surprised how handy a rear spoiler can be on fwd cars, especially those with big engines.

The rear of my car is constantly stepping out on corners with 'spirited' driving. Due to the heavy front end.

    Nice. I believe that's the 3-door Type-RR?

The 4-door Type-RR was tested by Jason Plato on Fifth Gear. Was quicker on their track than an S2000. That's a fair accomplishment.

So Mugen (a fairly reputable tuning house) have managed to get a whole 40bhp extra out of it and make it look like it revered in halfords.

Since you mentioned the GTI a MK5 or MK6 Gti with a simple remap (you don't even have to go to Mugen ) would be better.

That type R is widely regarded as one of the worst if not the worst type R,back to the drawing board Honda/Mugen.

In fairness that is pretty impressive from a 2l N/A already very high revving engine.

The more the turbo blows the worse the lag. Outright power might be increased but driveability usually suffers. (hence the expression "the more it blows the more it sucks") The aim of the game all along with the NA engines has been driveability, linear power delivery, no lag etc. But you know all this already!

Even with its shoe-laces tied together (ie the non-independent rear suspension) the new model is a bit quicker than the EP3, and was a match for the Golf GTI of the time (might still be, I haven't had time to keep up lately), but wasn't liked for the design compromises, mainly the tied shoe-laces. Ironically the same design compromises existed in the Golf GTI until recently, aswell as all the French hot-hatches.

The Mugen versions are transformed, rumour being that Honda is keen for them to have a competitor to the Megane R26.R.

Honda being one of them Ive had or had the use of all honda civic vtecs. Ive also had the use of a golf gti....

You no what out of the box the honda dilivers Ive watched an sir 1.8 teg the only word i can think of is rape a Mk5 vw golf gti and make it look SLOW.

Ive never seen or been impressed bye a vw bar the mk1 and 2 gtis. Vw don't really diliver yet what I always enjoyed about hondas is the fact you have to drive the ring out of them to get them to perform which most people put as neg how so ?

I mean what turbo on golf gti kicks in about 3000 rpm ? wheres you can drive a honda so econmicly and get good milage....

Oh and i'd like to point out that Vw have as many 45 degree hat wearers as hondas...

I'm sorry, I really am. I know I shouldn't say it but if your driving experience is at the same level as your spelling and grammar you should go back to playing with your matchbox cars.

I think you should learn the meaning of reputable.I said Mugen were reputable.

Who plants the boot in the apex of a corner in a modern FWD hatch? feathering is the name of the game.

    Who mentioned 300bhp FWD cars.

    Fair enough.

I do at times. I think it depends on a many factors what your driving style is what corner your on how well you no your private test track and of course how well you know your car.

fair enough esageration but what your saying how much on a tuned vw golf gti exactly since your going into spacfics ?

there was an article about this car in ingear a while back,as far as i know it is only a concept and they have no plans to produce it, and i think they said it would cost around £25,000 if it was made,

not a threat to a gti,i must find that paper again you have to register to look at the article online:mad:
