Blu Ray of Death

    Hi All,

I know this thread has been done to death but without the search I can't find what I'm looking for. Hopefully someone knows this for me.

My brothers PS3 died yesterday. Firstly the fan went into overdrive and then the drive stopped reading. (coincidently my PS3 fan went into overdrive last week but I quickly switched the machine off)

His PS3 is just under 2 years old now. Does this mean its out of warranty? Has anyone had success getting an out of warranty PS3 replaced by Sony?

Also, does anyone know the support number for Sony?

And lastly, has anyone here used "Console Repair"? How much are they and was there any hassle?

    Thanks
    Gareth

I have heard of people getting Sony to fix it outside of warranty but it takes a lot of pushing.

Sony will fix it for you for 160 cosole ireland will fix it for around 90 i think and have it back to you quickly. i havent had to use them yet but i have heard nothing but good things about them.

Thanks for that. I will get my Dad to call Sony, he has a way of getting people to do what he wants on the phone ;-)

My Ps3 has started giving trouble you have to put in and take out a game before it finally loads. This only started happening after the last update it was working fine before that. Is it a problem with the update or is it just the laser going on it?
