Uploading via flash on college network (gmail attachments)

Is there something I'm doing wrong? When using firefox 3.2 and tcd webmail to send messages the browser freezes and crashes if I try to upload an attachment using the (blue bar - I'm assuming flash?) method. Same applies with a photo site or facebook.

HTML uploading is fine but I don't want to be manually selecting all the files I want to upload (say 15 photos at a time).

For example in gmail - when the blue bar reaches the end - the window pops up and asks me for the password to proxyB.tcd.ie, I put in my username and password (I've tried 2 now - one that works for logging into college pcs and one that works for logging into SIS, neither work). And instead the bar resets to 0 and doesn't upload anything.

If I try to cancel the upload or close that page firefox decides to freeze up and I need to terminate and restart the session - very annoying. Does anyone know what is the problem? Thanks

I seemed to have worked it out - for some strange reason Internet Explorer is asking for proxy details, I've set up the proxy in IE too (with auto password) and now uploading is fine.

Just in case anyone else had similar problems.

External plugins in Firefox etc use the system proxy settings, which are determined by those set in Internet Explorer. The same is true for Windows Media Player, etc.

You need to change your e-mail settings. It's got nothing to do with proxy settings on college computers. You can't install Flash for Firefox/IE unless you have admin rights. Quick fix is as follows:

From inbox screen click settings (top right) > Attachments > Select Basic attachment features.
