Merc coupes (220, 230CE etc), how different are they?

    Late 80's/early 90's Merc 220's and 230CE's look pretty similar. So what are the real differences between them?

    The 230 was a 136bhp 4 cylinder 8 valve, whereas the 220 was a 16 valve, can't remember the output but I don't think it was as torquey as the 230. The real difference is that the 220 came in with the Aug 93 facelift, so 220s won't look as well and will be a bit more prone to rust, the odd electrical problem, etc.

    Some interior details different (a bit more "clunky" on the pre 93).

    2.3 8v
    Power: 130 BHP
    Max Torque: 146 lb·ft

    2.2 16v
    Power 148 BHP
    Max Torque 155 lb·ft
