I'm sure I've seen a thread about this before, but Search is still down...

Can anyone recommend a nice route around Galway city? I'll probably be starting near Oranmore and would prefer not to have to get across town to go out towards Connemara. Smooth roads and some hills would be nice too.

    Ta!

I'm over the other side of town but you could use the outer roads to get yourself on to the clifden road without having to into the town centre.

From there head to moycullen, take the left at moycullen to spiddal, turn left at spiddal to barna, turn left at barna to bring you back to the galway- moycullen road and from there go back home the way you came at the beginning

That should work out at about 65 - 70k

Oranmore - Claregalway - Tuam - Athenry - Oranmore is a nice cycle. I think it's around 70km to 80km. It's possible to do a few variations of this as there are plenty of points along the route that you can make it shorter or longer depending on what you are looking for.

Do you go on the main Galway-Limerick road to get from Oranmore to Craughwell/Gort or are there backroads?
