Addicted to COD4

My graphics card broke somehow back in May shortly before I left for the summer and I couldn't afford a new one. Now, I played COD4 a LOT, seriously, 4 or 5 hours a day, sometimes more. Now that I haven't played it in a few months, I'm actually amazed at how much of my day and night it was chewing up. I was an admin on a S&D server too so I guess that made it worse. Is (Was) anyone else addicted?

Was addicted to CoD1 when it came out and I got my first broadband (512k FTW!). Back then I played around 6 hours per day (after work until the wee hours of the morning) and pretty much all week-end. Yeah it's a waste of time... But I had fun and it's better than going out in town drinking myself silly every week-end...

4-5 hours is nothing on the grand scheme of things, a game with a persistent world you'll get guys clocking up12+ hours a day on it. if you do that on cod you'll get bored after few hours and drop it till the next day, you don't get that feeling with a persistent world.

I agree with KilOit. I used to play CoD1 with a young lad who left our Team to play World of Warcraft when it cam out. For one month he managed to clock 18 hours per day on average... Madness! His parents took his PC away in the end.

I have clocked up 27 days in the last 18 months, which when you compare it to World of Warcraft players, its actually not that bad...

But as some have said, its better then being out getting an asbo for shooting cats with a pellet rifle....

    Fear the secret knowledge!!!

Yup, I'm addicted to COD4 in particular and play it whenever I can. However, as I'm a casual console gamer and at the weekends I also like to play when I'm drinking! That can lead to some very interesting moments and sometimes even trying to change weapon is a challenge, never mind killing other players :D

I go through phases of addiction with all good online games and have done since mid '90's .
CoD4 ranks in top 3 FPS for online play & longevity for me after Quake and CS
but still not into the top 5 when MMO's join the fray.

I got to Level 55 on the PC in a couple of weeks. Playing S&D is the fastest way to level up.

Ha! I thought I was the only one. That is funny indeed. Well I feel better now, well no actually, because I haven't played since May and PC gaming is an expensive hobby!
