I just read a thread here a few mins ago about a competition to win a free Fourball on Golftalk.ie forum
I went to check it out ,came back and the thread has disappeared:confused: Did anyone else see it?
Is this a technical hitch or is there something more sinister afoot?

Nothing sinister... well, no more sinister than this mysterious post appearing anyway.
The post was started by someone who promised they were a member of boards and had a valuable contribution to make but all they have done so far is try to advertise a website without paying for the privilege.

    Hi Licksy,
The OP was a link to a competition on another golf forum letting golfers know about a free golf competition, is this not allowed?
The reason I ask is that I often visit other sites linked from here (eg Tribal Warfare and Ultimate Fitness centre come to mind from the MMA forum), the one from the soccer forum (Backpage IIRC) and tons of sites from the Bargain alerts.Maybe this should have been posted in bargain alerts :)
Many users have links in their signature (used to have one myself and never had any warnings or issues).
Do you just have a particular issue with this site? (makes no difference to me, I frequent lots of sites, but was just curious as I had read the post and then it was gone)

I notice thegen has given the thumbs up:confused: and also noticed thegen is a member of Golftalk, what gives..

People are 'free' to use links in the signatures to advertise something they run online... common sense is asked for.
Referral links are not allowed as you'll see from that link. I don't have anything against golftalk... there was an original post on here about them from you which copacetic deleted. Then another was started by a regular user here which I had no problem with until the sockpuppeting and bumping started.... now another thread today, which may have been of interest but because it was started by someone whose only agenda has been to promote an outside website it was deleted and the poster was sent a pm explaining how come.

Kent, I joined Golftalk.ie to see what it was like. I found that the posts were mainly generated by mods or site owners. The threads that have been started here have been just an add campaign for golftalk.ie and have not in anyway contributed to this forum. Hope that clears it up for you. Thegen

How else would you expect a new forum to get established?

Anyway thanks for the feedback guys and I will say no more on the matter.
