Unauthorised Wirecard payment - fraud?

I have a Wirecard (prepaid credit card) account but haven't used it in ages since I got a Halifax Debit. I left €10 in the Wirecard just to keep it open. I checked the account today and lo and behold there was details of a payment made 3 days ago  The payee showed up as "GE FABBRI LTD".

After some googling I found they publish magazines etc and specifically are behind the "Little House on the Prairie" publication. I was on this website months and months ago. I tried to purchase one back issue using my Wirecard account but had insufficient funds in it at the time . The amount 3 days ago matches the price of one issue including P&P.

So what are my rights? Are they allowed to reprocess a failed transaction after a number of months? I'm very annoyed. It's lucky I logged into Wirecard as like I said I haven't been using it.

Probably not fraud, since you did give them the card details to begin with. After your original order failed, did you cancel the order. Did you get any invoice from the company, either at the time, or 3 days ago when the payment was charged?

First thing to do would be contact the company, and ask them to explain what happened. They should be able to reverse the charge.

Thanks for the reply Jor-El :)

I didn't ever get an invoice, either at the time or 3 days ago. No email notifications at all. I didn't cancel the order but it's not that kind of system.

I sent an email to their ge fabbri main website address and also one to the little house on the prairee website address. I don't want to ring them because they have a premium rate number and the unauthorised payment is only around €8.

Wirecard want me to print a form, sign it and post it them. After you factor in the cost of printing it, buying an envelope and paying postage then it's good money after bad.

Just dump the wirecard account. Give the remaining 2 euro to a charity.

Get something large in the post today, opened it up and it was an edition of Little House on the Prairie DVD Collection!!

I swear I never ordered it and received no email confirmation or anything like that.

I actually printed and sent a dispute form off to Wirecard last week. Before that I emailed the website on the Little House Collection website but was ignored.

Don't really know what to do now. Should I email them again telling them that I got an issue I never ordered? Will the unauthorized payment dispute with Wirecard be successful??

I don't think you have any case. You gave them your Wirecard details, the transaction went through the Wirecard but didn't complete as funds were not present. You've probably loaded the Wirecard with more funds since then, which caused that transaction to finally complete. It may have taken a few days to appear in the Wirecard account after that, and then you'd received the package in the post.

Strange that there was no confirmation e-mail though.

You could always sell the item you got on eBay or something - at least you'd get something for it that way.

You have a point except for the fact there was a couple of months in between the failed order and the unauthorised one (the money was also there during the intervening months). The recession must be biting if they're that desperate to flog their wares.

Oh, I didn't realise that the money was there for a few months. That's very strange in that case.

Wirecard gave me a new Mastercard number and were frighteningly quick in processing a refund of the disputed amount. Only thing is a few days ago the magazine and dvd arrived...sold it for a tenner!! :D Currently waiting for an angry email from GeFabbri.
