Merc iPod Interface

Hi all,

A friend of mine has a 2008 Merc CLS.

There's no iPod connection in it and he's trying to get a retro fit done. He was onto a Merc main dealer but they didn't have an iota what he was on about, and told him it's not possible.

My Dad recently got a retro fit iPod kit installed in his 6 series, so I presume Merc have a similar solution.

Anyone got any advice/info?

Thanks for the link but I think it only deals with 2009 CLS's.

The CLS I'm talking about is a 08.

Hi,

what's the factory-fitted head unit in the CLS? As I understand it, the Merc OEM kit for all but the most recent units required the COMAND head unit for iPod integration, it won't work in conjunction with the Audio 20 which I think is the standard fit.

I have the OEM kit linked to the COMAND (NTG1) in a 2006 E-class - a good system that allows you to control the iPod from the steering-wheel buttons (skip track, playlist, album etc) and displays the track name in the dash display.

As opposed to an "aux in" system which is really only a headphone socket, where you set the iPod playing and hope for the best...
