Popped into Game on Pana today.
They had a load of copies of PES2008 on PS3 for only €3.99, complete with instructions and in very good condition.

    3.99 for a PS3 game can't be bad.

It's a really terrible game, to be fair (and that's coming from a PES die-hard).

You'd get 09 for a similar price if you looked, and it's far better altogether.

That said the new one's out on the 22nd, and is supposed to be really good. I think Tesco are selling it for €35.

TBH I'm not gone on football games but I had to go for it. €3.99.

I have PES 2006 (or PES 6, not sure which) on 360 and I couldn't score a single goal on it!

So why is it bad compared to the other pro evo games?

Because Owen is in on the cover.

Fifa 08 has been reduced to 3.99 in most game stores

And, if you can find them, Pro Evolution Soccer 2004 and Fifa 2002 can be had for a steal! Why waste money on a 2-year old sports game franchise, when you can waste money on even older sports games!

The resale value on sports games (which are updated yearly) always falls through the floor after a couple of years - unless they becomes collectibles. So many copies are traded in that they become barely worth the cost of the bus fair in to buy them.

    Whatever.

I don't have a copy of PES on PS3. This bluray cost me €3.99. I have no intention of buying the latest installment. I'm sure other people are in the same boat.
The point of this thread was to let other people know about it. I'm sure other persons don't have a football game and wouldn't necessarily be big football fans(like me) but would like to get one seeing as it's this cheap.

Less of your negative bs, please.

€4 for game if your going to use it is good business.

PES 2008 is regarded as the worst of the series though, there is plenty of reasons why this is so, high up the list is the fact that the game does not run properly. The game slows down when there is a good bit of action on screen, some stadiums are worse than others.

Installing the update helps, but it also makes the graphics worse

Installing to your Hd is ment to help too

I have to say despite the above I was pretty bummed when my disk broke at the time, couldnt justify buying it again though

I got FIFA09 for cheap as well a while back and this seems a lot more playable.

Much more free flowing. FIFA seems like a simulation, and let's be fair, most football matches are incredibly boring.

I should have put in a smiley after my first paragraph to set the intended tone.

As was already mentioned by others, I just don't think it's a particularly good 'bargain'. Like you say though, €4 to dip your toe in the water isn't going to break the bank.

I don't think you'd get any "bluray" for cheaper.

Any preowned movie bluray they had in there was going for €12 minimum.

    I think it's a great bargain, personally.

Its not a good bargain I am afraid.

Heart is in the right place OP but its not just outdates it also happens to be the worst PRO evo in about a decade.

Just thought I would warn anyone else off it.

New Pro Evo might be worth it if you're a soccer head and have 60 notes lying about.

For casual fans like me and/or those looking to add to their Ps3 collection on the cheap this is a great deal.

By the way, been playing it and have seen no slowdown whatsoever.

This game has 75% rating on gamerankings too, can't be that bad.
