....were my wedding band :P, naturally.

    These guys:

    http://www.theroaringforties.com/

    http://www.myspace.com/theroaringforties

They are a swing band, and I felt that they were more of a "band that do weddings" as opposed to a wedding band.

If you fancy a very lively night with EVERYONE up dancing then these guys are for you.

From the youngest (14 yo) to the olderst (70yo) everyone was up, and not in a cheesy way, in a genuine way.

Give George a call and he'll hook you up dates you can go and see them for yourself.

I give these guys my 110% support, and a VERY BIG THANKS for being...

...."The best wedding band I've ever seen".....

By the way, they are the words of all my guests....friends, aunties, staff at the venue etc etc :D

    Brian

I don't really even like the beatles but the wife does and I have to say they were top class and well worth the booking :)

Can I ask how much they charged and where you are i.e. do they travel around Ireland? I'm based in Dublin and looking for a 'good band that does weddings' rather than a 'good wedding band'

    Hi How Strange.

My wedding was in Fallon & Byrne in Exchequer Street Dublin 2.

The Lads are based in Cork but do travel.
The price would depend on what size band, I went for a 7 piece and George gave me a good price. (You understand though that I cannot post the price we agreed on!!).

However it was very reasonable, and cheaper than a lot of "wedding bands" we looked at.

I went for a swing band cos I felt the standard of wedding bands is generally very poor.
And I knew I was going to go for more alternative music with the DJ, so in order to keep the older folks happy with a bit o' swing but still have the younger folk watching a respectable and creditable live band.

When I was looking at some of the other swing bands I felt like they were "Westlife" playing swing, a bit too safe for my liking!!!

    These guys rock out!!!

Its kinda like if you wanted a trad band but all you could get was the Sons of Erin (sic), when these guys are like having the Pogues play!!!

By the way, if you fancy a really great DJ then I recommend Fallon and Byrne resident DJ, (although he does travel also)
    Dermot Kelly
    Mobile: 87 206 5 208 01 601 5435
    Email: freshdjs@me.com

He is really in tune with what to play. I asked for The Jam, The Charlatans, The Smiths, and some great pop as well, and Dermot kept the crowd going all night. And wasn't at all cheesy, but really good fun.

I was totally and completely delighted with both the Roaring Forties and with Dermot.:D:D:D:D:D

    Thanks tfak85

I can't recommned Fallon and Byrne enough.

The food was incredible, as was the wine.

Even when we went in to do the wine tasting, their wine specialist David made us feel that this was all part of an amazing day :D

And the same must be said for Louise our organiser in F&B.
Everytime we met her we knew that she had everything sorted.

The staff are so friendly (but not American have-a-nice-day friendly :)),
    genuinely helpfull and really sound.

The place looked amazing and its the perfect sze for a 80 - 100 peple wedding.

Also theres just such a buzz about being in town for a wedding. People were cheering and clapping as we made our way up to the Westbury :o, also really recommended, bit pricey but we wanted to keep the buzz going till we went on honeymoon.

    Anyhoo, enough about me :P
