Spiders camping in my side mirrors

Everytime get near my car there is a huge web on both of the side mirrors.

I tried flushing them out with water, I tried bribing them out, I tried begging them to leave. They just won't! They won't pay the rent or anything.

Is there anything I can do to make the spiders go away? spray something so they won't settle in again and build their webs anymore?

Is there a solution to that?

Well you could put some wasps in there but that may end up with a wasp problem... Other than that just leave em be. They obviously like your car so they kill flies for ya :)

I admire their determination to hang on to the wing mirror at 100kph. :)

Try spraying a touch of polish, deodrant or something like that, should make the pack their bags to the next car

Just wash the car regularly. I dont know any spider that can hang on when being hit with a Karcher pressure washer :)

I've the same thing in one car, but not in the other - I clear the webs but other than that I just let them be.

I have a spider living in each mirror too and they make fresh webs every day. My mirrors have a little hole underneath which the spiders pop in and out of. I have thought about sealing the holes but maybe they are necessary.... Ive tried grabbing one of them but it ran back inside the mirror. Im thinking I will just vacuum all around the mirror to suck the little pests out of the mirror.

Doesn't work that well though cause spiders just hide back in mirrors. I can wash my car and have webs back the next day. I also have one living at my towbar though I am not too bothered by him.

This thread has inspired me to do a bit of research, and I have come up with a couple of options ranging from the horrbile: gather up a load of spiders and blend with warm water then strain and spray the liquid around, to more sensible options such as.

Spiders like dirt so the cleaner the less likley they are to be around.
Apparently we can addd another to WD40's list of talents, spiders don't like it.
There are also Spider repellants available which have ingredients such as Clove oil, Chesnut Oil, Mint Oil and commonly Citronella.

So I'm going to give the wd40 a go as I know I have some at home, and then maybe a bit of Citronella, turn my mirrors into aromatherapy units.

I'll try let you know how I get on.

They just seem to love those spots.
Have them as 'tenants' for years now and they don't bother me in the slightest. Leave them be.

I have a spider in a wing mirror too, seems to be a common thing.
How about spraying some detergent or something and see what happens? I'll give that a go today, not that the spider bothers me.

    To all
Spiders hate Citris so get some Citris oil from tescos and wipe your mirrors down with it .

See it on " how clean is your house":)

I have them too in both wing mirrors and apart from wiping away the webs the odd time I leave them be .

Also sure do admire them they way they hang on at motorway speeds - great engineers them spiders :D

I have them too. Leave them be they wont do any harm. Give them names and pretend they are your pet.

Alright, after talking with them, I've agreed to let them stay.

    Thanks!

So does anyone have any confirmation of whether or not any of the suggested tactics work?

I've had the spiders in the mirrors of my last two cars and any chance I get to flick them away I take it. But there's either more than one living there or else some other opportunistic little fcuker sees his chance and gets in there straight away.:(

Yes if you spray WD40 into the mirror (beneath or around the glass so it goes into the casing) It does kill them and your web free each morning...... until more come!

One time I was parked waiting for someone, and decided to cut my nails w/ my penknife. So I cut off a piece of nail, and threw it onto the web - the spider ran out immediately from behind the mirror & dislodged the nail, and ran back in. Awesome.

The cheeky little fcuker. I hope you went with the petrol bomb suggestion after that.
