Hi all, I want to start a new business importing and selling a soap like product - one currently not on the Irish market. Sorry for being so vague.
My problem is locating nice/ luxury plastic bottles and lids ( 400ml to 500ml in size) . I wolud also like to bottle my product in Ireland but am finding it very difficult to locate an Irish bottleing company.

I have been on to enterprise Ireland but have found them next to useless. Any ideas ????

I've used this website to buy bottles before and found them very good. They have a very good range

Any good printer will be able to help you set up a nice label.

Thanks for that, I had already checked out this web site but thought the bottles were expensive, with shipping its working out at about 1 euro a bottle.
I have been asked by a supermarket chain to show them a protatype of my product and if I go with these bottles my product will be too expensive for the market. . Help !!!!
Does anyone know how close protatypes need to be to the finished article. I am wrried about skimping and my product looks naf and they don't like it. At the same time do I need to spend thousands just for them to say no anyway, its al so confusing.

    Hi, try here http://www.alibaba.com/showroom/bottles/--230603
    .html?noddp=Y
you might be able to get good prices i dont know how long it would take to ship though.

I would make a prototype with a standard bottle show it to the supermarket and see what they think. Or even try get them to do a trial run with a small stock of them before you bulk order.

Can you specify what type of bottle you are looking for?

Thanks for the advise athlas IRL I will check out the web site now.
I am looking for a clear plastic bottle like the ones used for detergent but my product is high end and will be retailing at the upper limit for a similar type product and so I feel the bottle and label will be very important to me.
The supermarket have already offered me a store to try out my product and carry out more market research over a weekend period. I was just not sure how close the packaging of the protatype had to be to the real thing.
Forgive my iqnorance I have been in business for many years but have never dealt with products, I was always the service provider. This is all new to me and I feel very green. So any advice about getting a product onto a supermarket shelf would be greatly appreciated.

I'd suggest you do a deal for some bottles and, if you have to, lose some money on the initial couple of sales to that supermarket you're dealing with. It sounds to me like you've a pretty good opportunity there, if you can market the product well. Personally if I thought I was onto a real winner it wouldn't bother me to lose a buck a bottle to get the shelf space in a multiple. How many "trial units" are you putting in? Buy the smallest amount you can and then begin the negotiations with the bottle supplier.

BTW, there are dozens of companies on AliBaba, Tradekey etc that will make a bottle to your specs for a few cents each. But my focus would be on getting the stuff into the multiple asap, and seeing how it goes.

    Best of luck

Try Quitmann O'Neill in Galway. I got sample bottles from them before & I'm sure they've a decent range.

Thanks for the advice I will order 200 bottles and labels for now. I can then order in bulk if all goes according to plan.
China does seem like a good option for the future has anyone bought bottles fromn there in the past and can recommend a supplier, there appears to be so many.

In the long run would it be possible to import the finished product?

In the meantime there are plenty of plastics companies in Ireland.

Packaging Industries on the naas rd are a decent bunch and have a good selection on a cash and carry basis.

    HTH

I was going to say the same as we bought bottles from them before

Funnily enough I picked up samples from them two weeks ago but my product just does not look right in them. The bottles are grand but just not what I am looking for but thanks anyway.
