Hair Loss

    I'm 22 and my hair is falling out. Baldness isnt that common in my family so its probably not hereditary (then again maybe it is!). Anyways, I was just wondering what is the best product to help prevent or at least slow down hair loss. Would it be Nourkrin, Regain, Crescina, Chinese Herbs etc or something else?

    Any help would be great (Although dont bother telling me to shave it off cos you are just wasting your own time and my time!!)

    Personally I would consider a trip to the GP, just to rule out any thing else going on. Not all hair loss is genetic male pattern baldness. Could be a fungal thing or a nutrition issue among other underlying conditions(even some medications I gather). Just a thought, especially if there are few male pattern bald men in your family.

    Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

    Finasteride/Dutaseride and Minoxidl(Rogaine) are the standard treatment if it is m.p.b. . Can stop hair loss and stimulate some regrowth.

    Is there any medial line you could ring up for advice on this issue?

    Yes go to GP. There are numerous medical reasons for baldness and its important to rule them out before doing anything else as some are reversible and some aren't, but the longer you wait the more damage is done.

    @Micheal_UCD
    The cosmetics industry may run a hair loss helpline but i sincerely hope the HSE aren't wasting money on something like that

    As far as i know,male pattern baldness is genetically linked to the mothers side of the family,so if ur dad and his father and brothers are bald,it does not necessarily mean you will be too.(im not a medical professional but i read this somewhere)

    No it does not come from the mothers side, it can come from either side. If its male pattern baldness, propecia and rogaine is your best defence. Is your hairloss patchy? receding? thinning at the back?
