How best to connect a Laptop to a NAS Drive?

    Ok,

what I have is a Dell 9400 Inspirion laptop and an Eircom Modem/Router.
I have just purchased a WD 2tb Ehternet Hard Drive.

I know that I can connect the NAS to the Router and link into the Laptop this way, however I am concerned about the speed of this.

I am thinking I need a Gigabit N Router and also a N wireless card for laptop. I am not concerned about the speed of the internet. Main purpose is to move all my photos & music to NAS Drive and use directly from here.

Can anyone give me an idea what I need to do here?
At moment going to go with a D-Link 655 & NetwrokCard to upgrade to N.

    Thanks

    OJ :)
