I'm thinking of getting a shotgun and was wondering if anyone could name a good make or brand ect.I was thinking of getting a FRANCHI SAS but imediatly noticed it was 30-40 euros on most sites, which to me says it's going to fall apart the first time I fall on it.I plan to use it in conjunction with my ghillie pistol and sniper set up when my cover goes bye bye. Thanks for any help and hope I posted in the right place

Get one of the three shot jobbies for 40-50 quid, most irish shops have some version of them.

Gotta agree used mine in warehouse a few times decent power and accuracy can't go wrong although for a sniper back up might be better with an aeg like an mp7 or mp5k just for size

Dont bother with the TM shotguns... get a DE, for €50, and its literally the same frankly... and quite nice. Most efficient and cost worthy shotguns on the market imo.

    what fire kitten said;)

the double eagle ones that shoot 3 at a time are great and come in a shorty version, full stock and retractable version too.

but for sniper back up id go with mp5 k or the pdw! they are nice and small and have the fire power to get you out of somwhere fast!!!

Heh, no, for a sniper backup id say a pistol... at most a glock 18c... trick is to not need to fight your way out, or use a spotter with an aeg :P I find pdws and smgs far too big to stalk comfortably.

you could get a mp7 either, good firepower in a small package!
at the end of the day its all about what you feel is right for YOU! you could go with a pistol as back-up but they are only really reliable in the warmer months, where as a small aeg will work all year round,,,,,,,,

Not really... My TM pistols work right through the winter.... And so do AEPS....

    Best idea overall possible combo?

Get a cyma g18c, use short mags, add the israeli folding vert grip, (designed for the g18c) and a silencer, use the Fobus g17/18c holster with 'attachment' function.

Pistol draws out backwards, not upwards, allows you a very quiet (oh god they are) and functional pistol, slash full auto IF its needed....

As I always say, if you need full auto as a sniper... 'ur doin it rong'

Iremember my first confirmed hit on semi guy just ignored it.Like an idiot I gave away my pos by spraying him with full auto.Later confrmation from downed teamates confirmed 3 saw the shot.Beware this tactic if it is a tactic?Seems like a sneaky one so could be then again 5/6 skirmishes in still a noob here

Having recently started snipering myself (challenging and rewarding, but quite frustrating, mostly due to my lack of skill at it) and having heard reports from more experienced snipers, this is something that will occasionally happen. To be honest 90% of people I've shot have taken their hits, but there have been a suspicious number who've just looked around and then continued gaming. Being the charitable sort that I am I choose to believe that this is due to a couple of factors, 1) BBs losing power at extreme range 2) People not expecting the hit so the looking around is a genuine, what was that? Did I just get shot? 3) hitting Tac vests, Molle webbing etc and players not feeling it.

There have been a few times when I'd have appreciated a full auto back up, but I think a shotgun would be too bulky. Bear in mind though that I'm not much of a sniper at all, and I reckon FK is right when she says a decent sniper shouldn't need much more than a pistol as back up, no harm in having something to fall back on until you attain proper sneakiness, but learning the hard way might make you a better sniper in the end.

At €50 though picking one of those shotties up for CQB work will hardly break the bank, I have a TM SPAS 12 which is a tri-shot like those DE ones, great fun to use, surprisingly good range and a viable primary for CQB.

my post is based on my experience playing IRISH airsoft sites in the winter. ps my pistol is a tm meu abs body and in winter it does get effected by the cold.

Erm, unless there's been a seismic shift recently, Ireland, England, & Wales share a very similar climate, although England gets more extremes of sumemr & winter given it has a wider landmass (I've left Scotland out given its' geographically further north). I don't see why you felt the need to put emphasis on "IRISH" there thermo.

Personally speaking, yes my metal body pistols are all affected by the cold (as is any GBB pistol or rifle), but they're not unusable (and I've used them in the winter mid/late evenings in the *dead* of winter at HRTA on particularly cold evenings ok enough). If I'm trying to engage anythign beyond close range, well then tbh I should be using a rifle anyway ...

Nobody is arguing Thermo... I merely posted an alternate opinion to yours... its no big deal... we're all grown adults. I'm sure we can cope with not having everyone think the same way we do.

(My experience comes from Irish and English sites, and frankly ive found english sites to get colder in the winter) That issue could be in part due to the gas resevior size of the singles stack TM 1911 mags. MEU included. I found that double stackers with larger resevoirs work perfectly... Its all a matter of gas dynamics.

Lemming: Yep, Due to Ireland's location, it actually experiences warmer conditions due to the angle of impact of the gulf stream to the british isles, and the fact Ireland's surrounded much more by water than the larger UK mainland. This means its climate is much more effected by oceanic temperature, which tends to remain warmer in the winter at these lattitudes, introducing a warming effect to the island it surrounds. Continental masses, or even England in this case on a microcosmic scale are often cooler towards the centre due to the distance from the warming oceans and convectional cycles created by that.

In all honesty MKIII, your best bet if you must carry something to back you up when the pistol isnt enough, is a marksman specialised rifle instead of the sniper rifle. Frankly, this all starts getting heavy... and a bolty, pistol, AND SMG/shotgun is a lot of weight. Just adapt an aeg to fit the role, and you have automatic when needed... job done?

The Double Eagle brand is the way to go regarding shotguns.
Tri-shots give the best range, are the most fun and the shells are interchangeable with brand name guns.
With the choice of the M56 variants for tri-shots or M47 variants for single-shot (Great value guns) you won't be disappointed. :)

Dont forget Rhino... the m47s are mag fed, with the m56s being shell fed....

The m56s do come in all the variants TM sell, and the usmc m1014 too iirc. They look quite good frankly... if i were to get a shotgun now, for skirmish use, it would be one of thoes... plinking? the gas acm m500s for giggle factor.

Just to throw an oar in in relation to a back up gun a tuned TM MP7 could be a viable option. Rooky1 on here has a rather effective one. I can't remember what he's done to it but the range is as good as an aeg, its very accurate and its as quiet as a church mouse!

If you are thinking about a shotgun than as everyone else has said get a Double Eagle, they are cheap as chips and are for all intents and purposes a TM shottie!

I have the DE M56 Flexi Stock and i love the thing.
It is the perfect backup weapon for a days skirmishing, if your battery dies or whatever its there, a simple gun that you pull out for a bit of intimidating or room clearing, whatever takes your fancy :D

Pick up a pack of extra shells if you do want to use it regularly as you only get 10 shots a shell. And beware your arms will get very tired if you get a bit trigger happy.

if he simply must have an smg backup to his sniper rifle... Drop the pistol... you dont need two backups.

The mp7 concept can work, but its a very sticky route... tuned right it will be ok, but its still fairly big... Try it... and see how you get on with it. But my personal experence of stalking/ crawling in dense foliage with a smg backup, just made me want to burn the thing...

Oh, one option that MAY work, is the chest harness mount for an mp7... its away from your gear, its not standing out over your ghillie... and when prone its invisible but easy to get at while not moving very much... idea possibly?

(Fire support has a full range of Mp7 upgrades btw)

I forgot to mention OP, the Franchi range are just rebranded Double Eagle guns. ;)

Bit of an overreaction there Thermo. Differing opinion does not = arguement. If everyone stuck to just posting their opinions without a bit of back and forth this would be a very boring place.

If you have a problem with someones post then report it. Or else just ignore it. This kind of thing just makes problems out of nothing.

Anyway, that's the last I want to hear of that kind of rubbish here please.

    Back on topic.
