Quick one that someone here may be able to answer.
I know someone who was arrested for a road traffic offence in the states while working there. The judge ordered him to go on a particular type of course which would require 6 weeks off work (which he wasn't going to get). He told the judge he was scheduled to go home soon and the judge said he could complete the course in Ireland, provided that a particular form was signed off by a doctor and returned to the court in the states.
So he came home and for whatever reason decided to forget about it. So we all reckon that there is probably now a warrant for his arrest in the states for breaching a court order, but we want to know how to find out for certain. Can AGS ring up the cops in the US and make such a query? He's wary about going to the US embassy in case he gets arrested.

No, All AGS will be able to do is the same as your mate will be able to do, make a phone call and ask the question, I would suggest that your friend either contacts the US embassy here or the Irish consulate in the state where he was arrested and ask them to look into it. He could also contact someone in the police force that arrested him, or the local district attorney's office.

IF your friend was in breach of a court order in the US then i would assume that there is definately some sort of warrant out for him.

He is better off sorting this out now, rather than forgetting about it and being lifted for a warrant the next time he's in the states.

Yeah a simple phonecall to the courthouse or local copshop in the US where he was arrested would give him the answer.

There are some websites out there where for a fee you can get them to search all federal, state and local departments for outstanding warrants. If he was arrested by the state police for example, then it would be easier to find as I dont believe these sites are able to check local warranty registries unless you specifically state that agency that arrested him, for example the city or county etc. He may know this seeing as he actullay went to court, if he doesnt then it will be more difficult.
Its a bit of a wierd one to actually ring up, I dont think they will give you the info over the phone. I would try one of them websites first, he'll have to pay of course.
